Local Film, Tyson Caron’s Lovesick, Selected For Exclusive Screening In Celebration Of National Canadian Film Day
Movie Nights Across Canada and Manitoba Film & Music will bring Canadian stars together to celebrate creative industries and Canada 150
WINNIPEG, April 5, 2017 - On Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Centennial Concert Hall, The Honourable Jim Carr, Minister of Natural Resources and The Honourable Rochelle Squires, Minister of Sport, Culture and Heritage, will host the Movie Nights Across Canada and Manitoba Film & Music (MFM) special presentation of Tyson Caron’s Lovesick. This event also marks Canada 150 and National Canadian Film Day bringing together for one-night only incredible Canadian talent including members of the Lovesick cast and a performance from Royal Canoe. Lovesick is produced by Kyle Irving and is executive produced by Lisa Meeches and Jacob Tierney for Winnipeg's Eagle Vision.
Hartley T. Richardson, President & CEO, James Richardson & Sons, Limited, philanthropist and generous supporter of emerging Canadian talent will join Manitoba Talent Ambassadors Len Cariou and Tina Keeper. Cariou has starred in Blue Bloods, Secret Window with Johnny Depp, and About Schmidtwith Jack Nicholson.Keeper, the star of the iconic Canadian series North of 60 and ACTRA’s Woman of the Year, most recently starred in Cashing In and Mohawk Girls.

This red carpet screening provides us with the opportunity to share the incredible success story that is Manitoba’s film industry.”
Lovesick, a quintessentially Winnipeg film, was selected as one of eight films being screened for a Movie Nights Across Canada event. Walking the red-carpet in celebration of the film are Lovesick talent Jacob Tierney (The Trotsky, Laurence Anyways), Ali Tataryn (iFeel), and Rebecca Gibson (Borealis) as well as special guests Karine Vanasse (Cardinal, Revenge), Jared Keeso (Letterkenny), and local talent Adam Beach (Suicide Squad, Arctic Air), Jonas Chernick (Borealis, Best Laid Plans)Sarah Constible (My Awkward Sexual Adventure) and Ross McMillan (The Lazarus Project).
The film’s soundtrack was recently nominated for a Canadian Screen Award in the Achievement in Music – Original Song category. Matt Schellenberg, who wrote the nominated song, and his bandmates from Royal Canoe will be performing after the screening. The soundtrack features a slate of local talent such as Alexa Dirks (Begonia), John K. Samson, and more.
Lovesick screened at world-renowned film festivals including Whistler Film Festival, Cinequest Film Festival, and Richmond International Film Festival. It has also gone on to win the ShowCanada Spotlight Award and the Cinequest Audience Award.
Movie Nights Across Canada, the country’s biggest celebration of Canadian talent, will celebrate the success of the film, television, and digital artists who tell Canada’s stories and contribute to Manitoba’s thriving cultural and creative industries.
