Amadians is an American/Canadian power trio, which includes American singer/songwriter Courtney Devon, Canadian guitarist/songwriter James Roth (Pushing Daisies) and Canadian drummer/percussionist Kyle Fox (Panicland).
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Amadians to the POP family.” says POP Partner, Angie Lamirande, “POP has been following this trio since they started writing together and are so excited with what we are hearing. Not only are they extremely talented artists, they are really great people and fit the vibe of POP perfectly.”
“Joining the POP family is really a dream come true.” says co-founder and lead vocalist, Courtney Devon “Their work ethic, creativity and passion is something that aligns perfectly with our band. Angie, Dave and Morgan are not only amazing at what they do, they are really great people and consummate professionals.”
The distinct sound of Roth’s guitar combined with Devon’s incredible vocal tone and range and the punchy warm attack of Fox on drums have created a sound that pushes the boundaries of conventional pop rock yet fits perfectly into today’s musical landscape.
After spending most of 2016 creating and demoing new material the band is preparing to enter the studio to record their first single this summer for release in the fall. They have been featured in their hometown of Winnipeg on both ShawTV’s Backstage 360 and CTV Morning Live. Amadians have recently performed to several sold out crowds and look forward to debuting their full band line-up later this year.
Today the band launched their take on Blondie’s ‘Call Me’ to the masses. “We feel like it’s a really great introduction to the band and the incredible vocal range of lead singer Courtney Devon,” says band co-founder and lead guitarist, James Roth “It’s a song that takes me back to my childhood. Growing up, my mom played Blondie on the family turntable every morning. Not a bad way to wake up.”
The accompanying video for the track was filmed and directed by Dave Swiecicki, whose credits include songwriter and co-founder of Winnipeg's Jet Set Satellite. Photographer to many of Winnipeg's favourite musicians and actors and even the official photographer of the highly popular Winnipeg Police Service K9 unit calendar. Swiecicki recently added music producer to his credits, working with Winnipeg's Emily and the Moon. He's also directed many music videos including offerings from Jarrett Lobley and The Perms.
Call Me, written by Debbie Harry and Giorgio Moroder, was recorded and released by Blondie in 1980. The track was also the theme to the 1980 film American Gigolo. The song was was number one for six consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and the band's biggest single and second #1.
